Can super amount be made zero?

Hi, one of our staff is on maternity leave.

We are paying the maternity leave payment we recieved from the government.

MYOB automatically calculated super on this and it went to tax office salary reporting centre already.

We did not pay the super amount though when we paid all the super for the office.

Now probably our bank ballance wont tally with MYOB?

Is there a simple way to reballance this?

Next time can we change the super amount manually to zero before processing the salary?

Re: Can super amount be made zero?

Hi @HangedUpOnMe

Thanks for your post. You will need to exempt that maternity leave payroll category from accruing super by doing the following:

  1. Go to the Payroll command centre and click Payroll Categories.
  2. Click the Superannuation tab then click the zoom arrow next to the Superannuation Guarantee category.
  3. Click Exempt.
  4. Select the wage category to be exempted from accruing super.
  5. Click OK.

To fix the incorrect pays the easiest option would be to reverse those pays and reprocess correctly. This will ensure you are reporting the right data to the ATO. This help article has detailed information you may find useful: Checking and adjusting super
