Historical payroll data

We are starting to use Accountright payroll from tomorrow and want to know how to enter historical  data.

Can we just enter YTD Gross , TAX and net wages or do we have to enter by each individual category eg salary sacrifice, meal allowances, superannuation,?

How do we enter this information?

Does it need to be entered before we do our first pay run in Accountright?

Re: Historical payroll data

Hi @Sandraisx

Generally speaking, you would enter the historical year to date payroll information through the Pay History section of the employee's card - Card File>>Cards Lists>>Select the employee's card>>Payroll Details>>Pay history (Left-hand side). Ideally, you want to be doing that on a per-category basis, i.e. Base Hourly, Overtime... as each payroll category may have a different ATO reporting category and thus they may feed through to different payroll reporting areas.

There are two exceptions to that, which are entitlements and superannuation:

  • If the employee has entitlement hours owing to them, enter the opening balances in their card. Click Entitlements and enter the opening balances (in hours) in the Carry Over column.
  • If the employee has accrued superannuation which has yet to be submitted to their fund (using Pay Super), don't enter it in their pay history. Instead, record a pay for $0 that only includes the accrued super (do this after recording all other pays for the month). For more details, see Checking and adjusting superannuation.

To ensure that the information is set through correctly to the ATO you want to enter that historical information before process your first pay in AccountRight. By doing it this way, the first pay you do in AccountRight will include that pay information along with the year-to-date information to the ATO.

Kind regards,
Steven
