Incorrect entry for Salary Sacrifice

Hi there, I have incorrectly entered a salary sacrifice amount on an employees pay. I entered it as $15.00 rather than -$15.00 so at the end of the month it wont recognise that as it shows a negative amount to pay to the super fund.

I am in the process of now reversing the pay (x 4 of them)

My question relates to the fact that now $15 will have been overpaid on each pay ($60 in total) and that doesnt take into account of the $15 that should have been sacrified each pay.

How do I rectify the overpayments?

Does the employee need to transfer the funds back to us?

Re: Incorrect entry for Salary Sacrifice

Hi @PamHanckel

When it comes to how your employee returns the overpaid funds that is a discussion that you need to have with your employee. This link to the fairwork website outlines how overpayments need to be handled - fairwork - overpayments

I can help you with how to deal with the overpayment in AccountRight though.  It will depend on what you and your employee agree to so I'll give you links to some support notes.

Fixing a payroll overpayment or underpayment

Checking and adjusting super

Please let me know if you need further help.

Cheers,
Tracey
