PAY SUPERANNUATION - Invalid ABN for SMSF

Hi There,

So I have a employee with a SMSF which I have been paying to without issue for sometime.

Recently they have change bank account details - I was unable to edit the exisiting SMSF 'Details' so I duplicated it with the new account details.

The New updated SMSF will not process - When I try to record the payments in MYOB i get the red cross with the error message -

The ABN is Invalid. Payments cannot be made to this fund.

The ABN is correct and the same as the previous the only detail that changed was the bank account details.

Can anyone help me with this please.

Re: PAY SUPERANNUATION - Invalid ABN for SMSF

Hi @ntoumba

This error message can be caused if the super fund details are corrupted in the system or there is an error registering the SMSF.

As far as corruption in the fund details is considered, when you duplicated the fund, did you give it a different name,  by adding a number or letter to the end of its name? Also, after the fund is created again, it needs to be assigned to the Employee Card by going to Card File-->Employees-->Payroll Details>Superannuation.

If any of these steps was missed, you can complete them or create a new fund again with the exact steps and then try to process the super.

Please let me know if it resolves the issue for you.

Kind regards,
Komal

Re: PAY SUPERANNUATION - Invalid ABN for SMSF

Hi @Komal_S

I did originally create a dulpicate - then I re-named the OLD fund by adding OLD to the start of its name.

After it didnt work correctly the first time I deleted the 'new' fund as it had no transacations so it could be deleted. Then I re- created the 'new' fund after assigning the 'old' fund the new name. I also removed all funds from the employees cards then re assigned the 'new' fund to the employee.

I am still having trouble processing any payments to the 'new' fund.

Re: PAY SUPERANNUATION - Invalid ABN for SMSF

Hi @ntoumba

As discussed with you through private messages, the ABN for this fund is invalid as the fund's status is "Regulation Details Removed" on ATO fund lookup website and the status needs to be"Active" for us to process the payments associated with that fund. Therefore, this requires the fund to contact ATO and get the status changed.

Feel free to post should you have other queries.

Kind regards,
Komal
