STP payroll

I prepare a payroll for a small firm on a weekly basis. As I'm only here once a week, if payroll day is a public holiday or I'm away, then staff receive the same amount as the week prior and I prepare the payroll a week late with any adjustments as required.

Is this an issue with STP reporting that I'm preparing and declaring a week after the payment? How does everyone else handle holiday time, etc...?

Re: STP payroll

Hi @Austins

From the software perspective, you are able to record payroll transactions with a future Paid On date. But you won't be able to report them in STP straight away due to the payment date being in the future, they'll need to be reported on a later date. You are also able to record the pay runs after the holiday, with the Paid On date set in the past, then report them in STP.

While the software allows pay runs to be reported on a later day, it would be best to check with your accountant or with ATO whether it's OK to report the pays this way.

Cheers,
Clover
