Re: Potential Issue - MYOB's Removal of Payroll Rollover Function

Obviously MYOB staff don't get paid on either a Wednesday or the 1st of the month! Otherwise they would recognise how this could really affect people whose bill payments are direct debited.

They also have no clue about working bookkeepers who are planning to take school holiday leave and need to be able to process ahead of time.

Disgraceful conduct by MYOB. I've used MYOB since 1999 and this is nearing the last straw. I've had several client's and/or their accountants ask about moving to Xero - maybe now is the time, sadly.

rollover payroll year

I am using the latest version of account right. Do I still need to rollover and start a new payroll year before my first pay of the new financial year?

Re: rollover payroll year

Hi @MBaguley

With AccountRight 2020.2 onwards the payroll year close happens automatically for users on 1st July. No action is required by the user.

However, it should be noted that you would not be able to process a pay for your employees until that new payroll year until 01/07/2020.

Kind regards,
Steven

Re: rollover payroll year

Thanks Steven

Our first pay run for the new financial year will be Wednesday 1st July 2020.  Will I be able to process payroll on the 1st?

Re: rollover payroll year

Hi @MBaguley

You will certainly be able to prepare and process that payroll transaction in the new payroll year on or from 1st July (this Wednesday).

Kind regards,
Steven

Re: Unable to process payroll for July 2020

Do we have to have done STP Finalisation by 30th June for 2019-20 payroll year before we process payroll on 1st July for 2020-21 payroll ?

Re: Unable to process payroll for July 2020

Hi @DebbieFFS

MYOB probably don't use AR2020 for their own payroll.

Re: Unable to process payroll for July 2020

Hi @NarelleF  @DebbieFFS @Catherine_M and others

For those with concerns about 1 July 2020, I did a test.

Closed MYOB. Changed system date to 1 July 2020. Opened a copy of my file (to ensure I didn't break the actual file). Went to process payroll with 1 July 2020 payment date. MYOB changed the Payroll year to 2021 and changed the current tax tables to 1 July 2020 and I was able to process payroll as normal.

I did not have to finalise STP, or do anything else - so it seems to work as indicated by @Steven_M .

Regards

Gavin

Re: Unable to process payroll for July 2020

Hi @NarelleF

You can process pays for the 2020-21 financial year (on or after the 1st July 2020) before finalising STP for the 2019-20 year.

Cheers,
Tracey

Re: Unable to process payroll for July 2020

I was considering doing this thank you for suggesting it. I will do it now just have to be able to make sure that people are paid on 1 July.

Cheers
