BAS error message "we can't get in touch with the ATO right now"

Good morning,

 

I have been unable to load my BAS (already overdue), yesterday and today. Please see screenshot for error message. I didn't have a problem with my other two entities, and have been using this for a couple of years with no issues.

 

Is there an outage?

Hi,

 

I am having the same problem.

 

I have cleared cache, restarted and changed some of the settings and it still does not work.

 

I have also phoned the help lone but they are done for the day.

 

Where else can we find help?

BAS IAS fails to connect

Is anyone having a connection issue when trying to lodge BAS IAS electronically. I get a cannot connect error constantly and have been lodging manually for months.

Get used to it near end of month. It happens almost everytime at the end of each month. I am currently trying to lodge my overdue IAS as well and am (as expected) unable to due to the same error.

Just keep trying

Took me 4 days this week to complete my BAS.

MYOB Support blames everything other than the fact it's their issue.
Clear the cache, it's your internet connection, its your computer.

They even advised refreshing the form and deleting the form.

They don't even understand the issue, just reading from the script.

Lodged a complaint with the ATO this month advising MYOB is having issues again and stopping me from lodging this month's return.

Hi Everyone


We are aware that some clients can encounter this particular message when attempting to lodge their BAS online through AccountRight.

Typically, it is caused by one of the following:

  • If you don't use Payroll within your company file i.e. you have AccountRight Standard, you have W fields linking through. As such, the resolution for that is to click on the Settings>>Set up activity Statement Fields and deselect the linked values for those W fields before re-saving the Activity Statement setup.

  • If you do use Payroll within the company file, a transaction journal (most likely a General Journal transaction) doesn't have a tax code added to it. Narrowing down that transaction and then adding that tax code will allow the BAS online to be run. Reviewing the Accounts>>Transaction Journals for General Journals within that period to ensure that each transactional line listed for those transactions do have a tax code listed. Once every transactional line does have a tax code listed on it then you would be free to run that BAS Online.

Hi Steven,

 

We use payroll and do not have any General Journal transactions. I have just tried now and I am now able to lodge my IAS. The only transactions listed in the journal since my post were 2 sales that were created today so I do not think my issue relates to your suggestions unfortunately. 

 

Could you please look in to the issue further as it always seems to occur when things are due or over due.

Hi,

 

I have upgraded to 2020.4 and changed the PAYG Installment interest rate. I started a new company file and that section was not set up as it should be. So it is helpfull just to make sure that the BAS Info is completely correct and in line with what you are set up with at the ATO.

 

That has helped with the BAS, however it did take a few hours to finally lodge.

Do you mind trying that process again? We did receive some token issues at the ATO end which have since been resolved.
