Capital Gains not sharing between husband and wife

We have recently undergone a migration to a network system (previously stand alone pc's) and now we have noticed the capital gains schedules won't share between husband and wife. This has only occured since the migration.

The figures show correctly in the husbands return where the schedule is but in the wife's return the schedule is showing but the figures at 18 are nil.

The version of tax we have is showing as 2014.1a.

Re: Capital Gains not sharing between husband and wife

Hi @CLM_Yeppoon,

Thank you for posting your query.

It is unclear whether the issue you are experiencing is due to the recent migration performed.  However, we recommend that you complete the steps in KB 28979: How do I refresh the System Services links?

If this article does not resolve this issue, then please contact our Support Team on 1300 555 666 for further troubleshooting.

Cheers,

Re: Capital Gains not sharing between husband and wife

From KBA 36959

In MYOB Tax version 2014.1a, when sharing the results from a Capital Gain worksheet into another tax return using Tax, the shared Capital Gains values in both the primary and secondary return does not populate correctly into Item 18:  Capital Gains.

MYOB has addressed this issue in MYOB Tax, Version 2014.2.

Please refer to the my.MYOB Product Downloads page, Australia to download the latest release.

Prior to the current release, perform the following instructions.

To display the correct share of Capital Gains values at Item 18, perform the following steps in the secondary return:

  1. Delete the shared item from the Capital Gains worksheet (right click on the line item and selectdelete) and
  2. Manually enter the share portion of the Capital Gain as a new item.

IMPORTANT!  If Item 18 label H "Total current year capital gains" exceeds $10,000 the Capital Gains Tax Schedule (BW) will be required.  Provided that you have ticked the "Populate BW" checkbox and theshared capital gains worksheet has been manually re-entered correctly, when exiting the Capital Gainsschedule area MYOB Tax will update the BW Schedule automatically with the correct information.

Hope this helps

Do you know if this fixes rental schedules not sharing across properly and the error message "destination return has not been updated to 2014"
