Changing Client Codes when Integrated

Am trying to change client codes as a result of a marriage and have integration in place and was hoping to find the means of performing the change on the forum without calling the Help Line.

Have already read Answer ID20945 and Answer ID 37383 and the code section remains greyed out and cant be changed.

Should be an easy fix....

Re: Changing Client Codes when Integrated

Hi @Zman

Thanks for your post, and welcome to the MYOB Community Forum - we hope you find it a useful resource.

Based our our records, your installation is a Series 6/8 site - and as such, its not possible to change the client code.

The two articles you have referred to only apply to PM-Plus and VizPost based integration sites - with Series 6/8 there are other applications which don't support a change of the client ID.

cheers,

Re: Changing Client Codes when Integrated

I could understand why the code cant change based on documents being saved etc but surely that is as simple as amending the underlying client code on your server to the new client code created for documents that are already saved or is it more involved than that?

Re: Changing Client Codes when Integrated

What about creating a new client (same client) with the preferred code and then copying across all the documents to the new client code folder?  Then closing the old code/client?

I know initially it wont allow a duplicate TFN on two clients but would the above be possible.

Just trying to do a work around.

Re: Changing Client Codes when Integrated

Hi Zman

Yes a workaround is possible but there are a few things to consider:

  1. Existing tax returns will be linked to the original code.
  2. Existing Wip/Debtor history.
  3. Documents - as you mentioned.
  4. Duplicate TFN

Recommendations -

1 - For tax returns history - leave on original client code.  All new returns would be recreated on the new client code.  If the return is half prepared you would need to copy schedules etc. from one client code to the other.

2 - For Wip/Debtor history - this can't be moved, but if you have unbilled wip transactions these can be moved to the new client code per MYOB Knowledge Base article 23560 - http://myobaustralia-ad.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/23560/kw/23560

3 - If you have MYOB Document Manager you can also move all documents to a new client code per MYOB Knowledge Base article 31300- http://myobaustralia-ad.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/31300/kw/move%20documents

4 - Remove the TFN from the original client and then rekey this under the new client code.

I hope you find this information helpful.
