Error 1305 on installation of AE Tax 2014.2 on Standalone

Hi,

I'm getting the following error message when trying to install AE Tax 2014.2 on a Standalone workstation:

"Error 1305.Error reading from file..."

A screenshot is attached.

I've tried to install this update a couple of times now. The new upgrade guide helped, but I'm still confused about whether we need to change to the new MYOB log-in system. The upgrade guide says they aren't relevant because we aren't using the fully integrated AE Suite. We are still running System Release 8.1 and PMA Version 5.3b.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Re: Error 1305 on installation of AE Tax 2014.2 on Standalone

Hi @rfbright

Thanks for your post, and welcome to the MYOB Community Forum - we hope you find it a great resource!

The error message 1305 - Error Reading from File - indicates that the Windows Installer (which is used by MYOB to install software) encountered a problem when trying to access one or more of the files needed to perform the install.

There could be a number of reasons for this - some of the most common are :

  • AntiVirus still running when the installer is running - Disable AntiVirus and try the install again
  • Permissions to the C:\User\<username> path - consult with your IT professional to ensure permissions are correct for this folder
  • Starting the installer from a network location or external drive - if you have the file you downloaded from the my.MYOB site stored on a drive other than a local drive, there could be a problem when the installer first unzips the files - try copying the downloaded file to your local drive - and then try unzipping (starting the install) again.

cheers,

Matt
