Hi @OKD,
If can provide some more details, I'll see if I can help you out.
What version of MYOB are you using? eg: MYOB AE (Classic Tax), MYOB AE (Profiles), MYOB AO
At which point are you receiving the error message? eg: starting the installation program, during the installation (what is on the screen) after the installation?
If you can provide a screen shot, that would also help.
Cheers!

Ok, I think I know what the problem is.
Do you use MAS by any chance? If so, please do the following:
Go into your MYOB BIN folder, this is usually something along the lines of:
M:\Apps\bin, or
M:\MYOB\bin, or
M:\bin, or
M:\MYOB\Apps\bin
In this folder you should find a file called module.ini.
I recommend you make a copy of this file before modifying it.
Edit module.ini in notepad.
Look for the [Installation] section
On the Modules line, you will most likely find it has Accounting in there twice. Once for Accounts and once for MAS, eg: Modules=Accounting - Accounts, Accounting - MAS, etc..
Delete the portion of "Accounting - Accounts," so only Accounting - MAS is left in the Modules line section
This should fix the Active X error you received.
Now we need to restart the database upgrade, to do this go back to the BIN folder.
This time, run the DatabaseSetup.exe program.
This will restart the install at the Profiles database upgrade portion. Select the appropriate database(s) to be upgraded.
This should then allow you to finish the install.
In the event the Tax database upgrade doesn't start automatically after the Profiles database upgrade (this should happen automatically), you can manually start the Tax database upgrade by running AETaxConfigUpdate.exe from the BIN folder.
Let me know how you go.

No problem at all. This error happens quite often when you have a mixed site (Profiles with MAS). Assuming you don't use any of the Profiles functions, I would recommend talking to your client manager at MYOB about moving to PM Plus. This will essentially remove the Profiles layer between MYOB AE (Practice Manager) and AE Tax. It will also allow you to use the new combined installer, which will simplify Tax upgrades significantly.
Cheers.
