Lodging a future tax return

Does anyone know if it is possible to lodge a future year tax return using MYOB AE?  According to the ATO website, "a future-year return is a return that is lodged before the end of the current reporting period – for example, a 2018–19 tax return lodged before the end of the 2019 financial year". The ATO goes on to say "We will accept early lodgment of returns up to and including 15 June of the relevant financial year, if the return is lodged via SBR-enabled software"  I am trying to wrap up an Estate.

Re: Lodging a future tax return

Hello @Clear9889

Thanks for your question, and welcome to the MYOB Community Forum.

I believe the Support team have already answered your question, however I will repeat the information in case any one else has the same issue:

While it is possible to create a future return, the process is made difficult by a number of factors. One of those is that the tax tables are specific for each tax year, and so any calculations done within the return will be specific for that tax year. Also, having two returns with the same tax year (even if the dates are not the same) within a client, where the Tax File Number is the same, will cause issues for the software to process the second return.

Sometimes paper returns can just be the easier option.
