Making the most out of your partnership with MYOB

Hi there, I want to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the new General Manager for Practice Solutions at MYOB.

 

Practice Solutions is our new name for the Accountants Division or AD - the part of the MYOB business that serves accountants in public practice through Accountants Office and Accountants Enterprise (AO and AE).

 

I’ve had the pleasure of meeting a number of you over the years and some of you may have seen me before at the MYOB Roadshows. I’m glad to say that the previous General Manager Adam Ferguson is still very much part of the MYOB team and is now leading our Engineering and Experience (EX) team, with a focus on building the next generation of AO and AE in the cloud.

 

I’d also like to introduce Steve Kerr to our Australian clients. Steve has recently joined the MYOB team and looks after the Client Management team in Australia. So all of you have a Client Manager, a Client Relations Team Manager and then Steve supporting you every step of the way with AO and AE. Steve can be contacted at steve.kerr@myob.com.

Making the most out of your partnership with MYOB

 

When was the last time you asked yourself: “Am I getting the most from my partnership with MYOB?”

 

I think providing value for you is the single most important focus for me and my team. Over the years, I’ve had many discussions with accountants about this subject. This is the list I often share with those accountants to help them get the most out of MYOB. It’s by no means exhaustive, and it will continue to grow:

 

MYOB Roadshow – Each year, MYOB hits the road for Australasia’s largest partner roadshow designed specifically for accountants. With keynote speakers, Add-on Tradeshows and breakout sessions – there’s plenty to see and do.

 

Roadshow webcast – If you can’t make the live show, you can catch up on-demand. Here’s this year’s webinar hosted by me and featuring MYOB CEO Tim Reed, Senior Product Manager Sally Garton, and GM of Design and UX Ben Ross.

 

EOFY hub – To make the end of financial year easier for accountants, we combine everything related to this busy time of year into one location. You’ll find compliance software information, training, tips, support, and general interest stories.

 

Tips, Tricks & Tutorials seminars - These free online sessions - run by expert consultants with real-world product knowledge – will help you get the most out of your MYOB software and services. The sessions go for 30-60 minutes and are live and interactive.

 

Online Showcases – This free online seminar series gives you the opportunity to see first-hand the new features and benefits our cloud accounting and practice solutions offer. If you want to know what’s new, an Online Showcase is your first port of call.

 

InPractice – InPractice is an easy-to-read digest of everything that’s happening in the world of MYOB that may be of interest to accountants. Topics include training, tech tips, product news, opinion pieces by MYOB Partners and more. If you’re not already receiving InPractice, please chat to your Client Manager to get on the mailing list.

 

eBulletin – If you want to know the latest news about your MYOB products and services, you really need to subscribe to MYOB eBulletin. This simple, no-nonsense weekly newsletter advises of new product releases, service changes, and other important information related to MYOB. You can subscribe via my.MYOB and choose which products and services you wish to follow.

 

Make sure you’re not on ‘do not email’ – In my.MYOB under Communication settings, you can choose how to receive communications from MYOB. To ensure you receive our newsletters and important updates, TICK the box next to ‘I prefer to receive communications by’ section, as below:

MYOB Community Forum – The very forum you’re in right now is a terrific way to chat to MYOB staff and your peers and to get support, resources, and tips. I highly recommend you register for this forum (if you haven’t already), and subscribe to the Resources, Notices and General Discussion board as a start.

 

MYOB Business Monitor - The MYOB Business Monitor is a national survey of Australasian business owners (and directors) conducted quarterly. You’ll often find the results published and quoted in the media, as the data provides a good snapshot of business sentiment.

 

my.MYOB – my.MYOB is your secure, online support centre for product updates, registration, payments, and product referrals.

 

Keep your software up-to-date – Gone are the days of the single annual software update; nowadays new features and improvements are made throughout the year. It’s important that you stay up-to-date to ensure you’re always working optimally. Visit my.MYOB to get the latest version of your MYOB practice and business software.

 

Rebate – Did you know that when you refer MYOB business software to your clients, you might be eligible to receive a rebate off your MYOB practice software? Referrals and the rebate are managed in my.MYOB.

 

Partner Manager - Along with your MYOB Client Manager, you also have an MYOB Partner Manager dedicated to you and your practice. Partner Managers are experts in the MYOB software your clients use, like AccountRight, Essentials and BankLink.

 

They specialise in helping you educate and migrate your clients to the solution that best suits them, so that both you and your clients can take advantage of the productivity and relationship benefits that come from working online.

Client to Cloud Program - One of the biggest hurdles for practices in moving their clients to the cloud is finding the time to develop a plan and get started. That’s where your Partner Manager can help. To accelerate the process, your Partner Manager can set up a tailored program for your practice designed to meet the marketing, set-up and training needs of your client base. In other words, when you’re ready to transition your clients to the cloud, they’re ready to do all the work for you.

 

MYOB Pulse – Speaking of the blog, the MYOB Pulse is one of Australasia’s most respected business blogs, making Smart Company’s best business blog list in 2014. While there’s a dedicated accountants’ section to the blog, you may find it valuable to share business-focused content with your clients in your newsletters.

 

Surveys – Your feedback is critical to us doing the very best job we can. From product quality and features to support and training, your opinion plays a vital part in our how we go about our business. Please take a minute or two to fill out the surveys you receive from us. You’ll generally receive one after you have contacted Support, had a Consultant in the practice, or had a visit or phone call from your Client Manager.

 

Self-paced online learning – There are a number of online training modules available in my.MYOB to help you with your AO or AE practice solution. They’re a very good introduction or refresher for your software.

 

 

So that’s my concise list of what I hope represents value to you in your partnership with us. Everything that I’ve mentioned above is available to you as part of your maintenance for no additional charge. It’s our way of saying thanks for your continued support. I’d really encourage you to take advantage of everything that’s available to you to help you get the most from MYOB.
