Non-resident beneficiary of resident trust - tax estimate

I have a resident trust distributing to a non resident presribed person excepted income only.  Thereby the Trustee is assessable under S98(1).

The tax estimate is including a low income rebate offset (income is only$10K). However a low income offset only applies to residents.  It doesn't seem to correlate that the offset would be available to the Trustee to cover tax for a non resident.

Is there a trigger to turn this offset off?

Re: Non-resident beneficiary of resident trust - tax estimate

Hi @KAM054

Thanks for your question regarding the estimate generated by a Trust return.

With the number of variations when an estimate is being calculated, due to the calculation codes available to beneficiaries, an accurate estimate is limited to certain scenarios:

1. All income is classed as no beneficiary entitled.
2. Full distribution to one beneficiary under a legal disability.
3. Part of the distribution is classes as no beneficiary entitled, and there is more than one beneficiary under a legal disability.

If the estimate is correct other than the low income offset, you can modify the estimate by clicking on the Word icon, and adjusting within Word.
