Tax Return Lodgement

Hi,

I lodged our clients Tax Returns last month and it successfully went through ATO.

The issue is that, we noticed that under tax returns tab, the returns was rejected though I am sure that it was lodged. I checked the lodgement batch viewer and it shows that there were two lodgements, the first batch was successful and the second was rejected but all of those are the same clients. Now it shows that it was rejected but it is actually lodged. Can I manually changed the status to lodge? or how can I update the status?

Re: Tax Return Lodgement

Hello @1990

Thanks for your question, and welcome to the MYOB Community Forum!

If the return is showing as rejected, I would recommend checking on the ATO's Tax Agent Portal, to confirm that the return has been received. If it hasn't been received, I would suggest confirming why the return is showing as rejected. To do this, go to the Lodgement Manager homepage, tick the return, and click on the Print Validation Report link on the left side. This will give you an explanation of why it was rejected.

If the ATO have received the return, then you can manually update the status of the return to show as lodged. To do that, open the return, then validate and complete the return. Then go to menu option Lodgement > Update > I P T C F forms. From there, click OK to Single Return, change the status to Lodged, and click OK. The return should now show as Lodged.

Hopefully, this should resolve your issue!

Re: Tax Return Lodgement

Hi Helen-Z,

Thank you for your reply. The ATO received the returns but when I manually updated the status it is already LODGED but after that it will show In Progress from Rejected instead of Lodged.

Maybe it is something to do with the date lodged?

Please refer to the picture below. The 2018 and 2019 was rejected but received by ATO and I manually updated the 2018 but it still shows in progress.

Re: Tax Return Lodgement

Hello @1990

Thanks for your reply!

If it is showing as In Progress within the tax return list, when you are updating the status, I would recommend updating from Lodged to In Progress, click OK to save, and then update the status back to Lodged. If you updated the status while it was still showing as Rejected, then it will show as Lodged in the status update area (as it has attempted to lodge).

Hopefully, this will get your returns showing correctly!
