Unable to download lodgement report in AE

I tried to download my lodgement report today in AE and it did not work

I think it's something to do with the VPN.

The communication log is in the attachment.

Thanks for your question regarding the issue you are having with downloading your lodgement report.

 

Based on the communication log that you have included, it sounds like the Cisco AnyConnect service is not running (or may be disabled). To check whether this is the case, if you are using Windows 10, right click on the start button and select Run. In the search window, type in services.msc and press Enter.

 

Once the Services(Local) window has opened, scroll down until you see Cisco AnyConnect. Right click on the service and select Properties. When that opens, check the Startup Type - if it says Manual or Disabled, change the status to Automatic. The service status should say Started, if it says Stopped, then click on the Start button to start the service. Once that is done, click OK and then close the Services window and you should be able to retrieve reports again.

We've been having problems with this since we moved to a new Server with Server 2016 on it. No luck fixing it at this stasge so we've not been getting downcloaded reports, nor have we been able to lodge via ELS for several months.

Hi @nakul93,

 

On Windows Server 2016, neither the Cisco VPN Client or the Cisco AnyConnect client are supported.

 

However, you can make the Cisco VPN Client work, but it is unsupported. To install the Cisco VPN Client on Windows Server 2016 you need to first install the Sonicwall VPN client from the Sonicwall site. You will need to setup a free account: https://www.mysonicwall.com/muir/freedownloads?PLC=Global%20VPN%20Client

 

Then install the Cisco VPN Client (vpnclient-winx64-msi-5.0.07.0440-k9.zip) from the Tax (SOL64) folder in System Release. You must extract the VPN client and run the vpnclient_setup.msi, the normal vpnclient_setup.exe will not run. Once installed, you will then need to correct the following registry entry. This is done at your own risk, make sure you take a backup first.


Browse to:

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\CVirtA

Modify the DisplayName value and remove all the text before Cisco. It should now be: Cisco Systems VPN Adapter for 64-bit Windows

 

 

You can now uninstall the Sonicwall VPN client, as it will leave a filter driver behind.

 

Please note: installing both the Sonicwall and Cisco VPN clients will drop Windows networking, so only do this without other users on the system. We have come across a specific issue with Windows 2016 on Vmware vSphere 6.5, where the networking adapter can stop working when the Sonicwall software is installed. This doesn't seem to be an issue on Hyper-V or physical hardware.

 

Tax should now be able to perform ELS lodgements, including downloading reports, lodging BAS, etc as normal.
