Can you tell me what you are trying to attach to the amended tax return please?

The ATO are requesting we send an attachment letter with an amended tax return and lodge via ELS

Thank you for that information.
As the ATO would like you to include a specific letter, at this time, we would suggest using the Other Attachments schedule.
This is accessed from within the Amended Tax Return by following the menu options; Preparation > Schedules > Other Attachments.
When this window opens, you can replicate or re-type the letter in there and it will then be lodged together with the Amended Tax Return. If this is how the ATO wants the information (i.e. that they want it to be lodged together with the amended tax return via ELS) then this is the only solution available.
Unfortunately you cannot scan and attach a letter to an electronically lodged tax return, this is by design by the ATO.
However, you may want to see if you can attach this letter via the Tax Agents Portal to your clients Amended Tax Return. MYOB does strongly recommend that you first contact the ATO to ensure that this is able to be done and will be acceptable by the ATO. This will ensure that everything is complied with according to the ATO's expectations.
