Non-resident foreign income schedule for HELP and TSL debtor

Hi all,

I am currently preparing a tax return for a non-resident which has a HELP debt with ATO. As required by ATO, since FY2018, you have to report worldwide income if your worldwide income is above their threshold and you have a HELP debt with ATO. Can anyone show me how to report the worldwide income for non-resident in tax rerturn on MYOB AO? Does MYOB AO have non-resident foreign income schedule?

I am not sure if I choose non-resident status and then report worldwide income, is there any problem when validating the tax return ?

Appreciate for your help

Re: Non-resident foreign income schedule for HELP and TSL debtor

Hello @han01

Thanks for your question, and welcome to the MYOB Community Forum!

With regards to your question, MYOB tax returns follow the format required by the ATO, so any fields that would normally be filled in for World-Wide Income in a paper return, would also be required in the software. Having said that, there is a section in the return which relates to this, which is to assist with calculation of HELP repayment - it can be found in the Adjustments tab. It includes a section to enter HELP details, and Non-Resident foreign income:

As mentioned in that section, for non-residents with a HECS or TSL debt, you will need to complete the ATO Non-resident Foreign income schedule. Go to Preparation > Schedule to locate this particular schedule.

Hope this helps!
