formatting of GL report customisations

Hi,

I was able to create some text on a GL report in the report customisation area by importing an object.

Initally I contacted MYOB to ask how to do it. I was told to use either a text or memo field.
But using these fields I cannot line up the text if I want lines like this (all lined up):-

text text       $5,126,300

text text       $5,126,300

Total            $5,126,000 (want a double line under here)

It ends up like this all out of alignment.

text text      $5,126,000

text     text           $5,126,000

Total     $5,126,000

I contacted MYOB and the rep did not know how to do it.

She took a copy of the company file.

Days later I got a reply from another myob agent and he also did not know how to do it.

In the meantime I was able to create the layout on a word document and import it as an object.

And it worked. It was lined up and I had a double line under the total figure.

So I told the  MYOB agent I didn't need any help.

But because of the time I spent figuring it out it angerer my boss who stated that what needed to be achieved with regards to the layout could be done in a memo format.

But I cannot see how. If I use memo or text the information won't line up and I cannot put a double line under the total.

Also I noticed that when I imported the object because I had the word file on my PC when the ledger is opened on another computer the whole lot is missing and I needed to put the word document on the server and link it again as an object.

I am self taught in MYOB AO because learning is not shared in the CA industry and I still don't know the advanced areas properly. I am hoping that there is someone who is experienced in report customisations. Thanks

Re: formatting of GL report customisations

Hi ford,

The memo fields have more formatting abilities than the text field.
I would advise not to use the text field.

By looking at the brief example you have including, it would be better if you used account lines and total lines to create the report.

Please note: MYOB Support have guidelines to help with simple customisation of reports. As a rule, if something can be fixed in five minutes help can be provided.

Creation of a complete GL report is a chargeable service which you will need to contact your Client Manager about.

Further, you can speak to your Client Manger regarding a report writing course.

Cheers,
Mark

I will try and add in account lines and total lines and see what happens

How much does the reporting writing course cost

Hi ford,

I do not have a cost for the report writting training.

You can contact your Client Manager for details of the cost.

Re: formatting of GL report customisations

I don't have a client manager

I tried signing up to be a partner of MYOB but they refused. They don't want me as a partner.

I tried what you suggested with using account and total

But that didn't work

.

It only works to import it as an object.

Using text or memo doesn't line the columns up.

Re: formatting of GL report customisations

Hi ford,

If you have Accountants Office Classic you will have a Client Manager as you will be assigned one when you subscribe for Accountants Office.

This is not to be confused with a Partner Manager which you would have if you signed up as a Professional Partner.

When an account line is added, it should line up based on the Column lines. Check the amount column line to make sure split columns are not used.

Cheers,
Mark

MYOB Classic GL report customisations

In the report customisation area, I want to add some text and figures to the Notes to the accounts.

If I try using a text or memo it won't do the customisations I want.

In the customisation area I can add an object and I put the content into a word document which is located on our network drive.

On my pc the contents of the object I imported displays ok, but on another pc the contents don't display at all for some reason.

The pathway to the object is to the network drive.

Should I be saving the object somewhere else.

If I have an object (the word document) mapped to a network drive then I would expect that all pcs should be able to print the report with the customisation on the report.

Re: formatting of GL report customisations

I don't think you have undersood the issue. Or I don't understand your response.

If I add the line type of Account line the figures can't be added in

It looks like the Account line is for lining up some account codes but that is not what I want to do.

Re: formatting of GL report customisations

Hi Ford,

When you add the account line, the amounts added in are based on the account range you enter as the start range and end range.

Due to the complex nature of Reprot writting it is recommended you contact your Client Manager.

As you have a subscription to Accountants Office Classic, you will have a Client Manager.

Cheers,
Mark
