Hi everyone
There've been some changes to JobKeeper payments under JobKeeper extension 1 so let's go through what's different, what's stayed the same and what you need to do.
JobKeeper extension 1 runs from 28 September 2020 to 3 January 2021.
What's different -
GST Turnover - you will now need to show that your actual GST turnover has declined in the September 2020 quarter compared to the corresponding quarter in 2019.
To assist you with this we have added a calculator to the Payroll Reporting Centre.
For detailed instructions please refer to the help article for your software: AccountRight | Essentials
Tiers - there are now two payment tiers. You will need to notify the ATO of the applicable tier for each employee and pay your employees according to that tier.
Tier 1: applies to eligible employees who worked 80 hours or more in the 4 weeks of pay periods before 1 March 2020 or 1 July 2020.
The payment amount for Tier 1 is $1200 (before tax) per fortnight
Tier 2: applies to any other eligible employees
The payment amount for Tier 2 is $750 (before tax) per fortnight
You can notify the applicable tier for each employee in the Payroll reporting centre>>Jobkeeper payments tab>>select the tier for each employee and click Notify the ATO.
Notified the wrong tier? Simply change the employee's tier and notify the ATO.
We've also added the JobKeeper tier suggestions report to the JobKeeper payments tab. This report is suggestions only based on pay basis, employment status and processed pay runs. You will still need to notify the correct tier for each employee.
