Application has timed out when closing financial year

Solved: Go to Solution

Application has timed out when closing financial year

I try to close financial year, but MYOB always says "An application has timed out. please retry"

 

I have triey at least 10 times, but it is still the sam.

Our online file is around 480MB. Version 2018.2.1

 

It also happens when I try to back up the file.

Can MYOB extend the time out length.

Hi @Nicholasseafood

 

Although we do have a timeout extender which we can provide you that may assist with this, there is one thing that might be worth trying to see if it helps. This is to check the file out by going to File >> Check Out. This will download a copy of the company file onto the computer for you to work on locally.

 

As the checked-out file will be running on your computer and not online, you may notice some more responsive performance which may allow you to perform the closing of the financial year without receiving this timeout error.

 

Additionally checked out files can be backed up, which can be a great way to ensure that you have an up to date backup even if you were having difficulty in backing up directly from the online file.

Thank you Neil, it is working. 

 

I have checked our file size is almost 1.6Gb, in the future, the file will geting bigger and bigger.

 

Hopefully, MYOB can provide better soultion for this matter.

Hi @Nicholasseafood

 

Great to hear that worked for you and you have been able to roll over. In terms of the size of the file that is certainly a very large file and I would imagine that a file that size on the cloud would be prone to timeouts and degraded performance simply due to the size of the file.

 

It may be worth picking a date, like the start of the financial year for example, and starting a new file. As this new file would only have the opening balances information, this would be a comparatively smaller file it should avoid timeout related issues
