STP 2 and salary sacrifice - other employee benefit

I set up STP phase 2 prior to 30th June and wish i hadnt!.

under STP 2 the gross income is not reduced by the salary sacrifice amount but is included in the gross income and salary sacrifice should show up as a seperate item on the payment summary as 'salary sacrifice - other employee benefit' so that it can reduce gross income when the tax return is lodged. when i have finalised the employees payment summary the salary sacrifice doesnt show up on the payment summary, and employees are being told by their tax agents that they will be paying tax on salary sacrifice because its part of their gross income.

Has anyone else had this problem and how is it to be resolved.

Not happy MYOB!!!

Re: STP 2 and salary sacrifice - other employee benefit

Hi @AngelaGreg

I was speaking with a BAS agent recently who reported the same thing, the MYGov Income Statement was not showing the Salary Sacrifice Amount even though this was reported via STP (using a different STP Product, not MYOB). So it might not be a MYOB issue. Suggest you contact the ATO and ask them why the Salary Sacrifice amount is not showing - there might be an issue with the ATO systems. Let the forum know how you get on with this.

Regards

Gavin

Re: STP 2 and salary sacrifice - other employee benefit

Hi Gavin

I have worked it out.. it was a MYOB issue unfortunately. After getting no joy from MYOB or the ATO. Initially the system didnt pick up the salary sacrifice deduction as a seperate item to go on the payment summary. I decided to cancel the finalisation for one employee and process the salary sacrifice again for one employee to see what happened. After recording and submitting that pay to the ATO I checked the payment summary before I finalised that employee again and when i looked at the payment summary it had doubled up the salary sacrifice - other employee benefit again!. so i figured that i needed to run a zero payrun for all employees with a salary sacrifice deduction during the year and it worked. I resent those to the employees to the ATO

( I did reverse the one that I processed as well!)
