Help opening 1997 myob files in first edge

I have old files (1997) that I believe were done in MYOB. I later changed to using first edge. I have stayed on an old operating systeme to be able to still open first edge, however the old MYOB files won't open and I get a pop up message telling me that I need to upgrade the file to open them in first edge. Is there a way I can open them in first edge v4?

Hi @bookmark

Yes you can open the older files in Edge, follow the prompts to Upgrade the files first.

Thank you but it does not prompt other than to say I need to upgrade first.

Hi @bookmark

Some older versions require you to launch the Upgrader yourself. See under Maintenance menu or Welcome screen. Or look for an application with upg in the file name like MYOBupg.app - or check you FirstEdge manual or Help section.

Re: Help opening 1997 myob files in first edge

I have tried optimizing the old myob files to open them in first edge v4, but have had no luck. It says the file is optimized, but when I try to open it in First edge it says this is not a first edge file. It does not even identify it as an myob file any more.

Any other suggestions please?

Hi @bookmark

What program/version are you using to optimise the file? Try to open it in this same version.

Gavin
