Must Read: AccountEdge Information before upgrade MAC OS Catalina (10.15)

Hi Everyone

Update: 15/01/2020

After exploring a range of options to meet the requirements of the Catalina upgrade, we regret to tell you it will not be possible to make AccountEdge Catalina-compliant. More information can be found below

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In early spring 2019, Apple is releasing a new macOS, OS X 10.15 called ‘Catalina’. This new OS X version only supports 64-bit applications. AccountEdge v18.5 and earlier versions are 32-bit applications, so they won't work on the new Catalina operating system.

If AccountEdge is critical to your business, you must not upgrade to Catalina until we've released a new AccountEdge version.

We're currently working on an AccountEdge update, but we realise it might not be ready in time for the Catalina release.

We'll be contacting clients when the new AccountEdge version is available.

Should you have any queries regarding this please Start a new Post.

Kind regards,
Steven

Re: Must Read: AccountEdge Information before upgrade MAC OS Catalina (10.15)

Hi all,

Over the weekend Apple released their new OS, Catalina.

From now on macOS will only support 64-bit applications. AccountEdge is 32-bit, therefore if a client upgrades the OS to Catalina, AccountEdge will fail to run.

As mentioned in previous communications it’s critical that, until we make a new version of AccountEdge available, clients do not upgrade to Catalina. We will communicate again when this upgrade is available.

Hi all,

Sorry about the delayed update on this post. We know your recent experience of AccountEdge has been frustrating and we sincerely apologise.

We are working closely with our developer partner to establish a firm timeframe for a Catalina compatible release. We are pushing for this to be completed as soon as possible in the first half of next year. We know this is a significant time to wait, and apologise sincerely for the impact this will have on your business.

We’ve been contacting each of our subscribing customers on the forum, to give an update and talk through the steps we are taking to rectify the problem.

Cheers,
Suja Pillai

Re: Must Read: AccountEdge Information before upgrade MAC OS Catalina (10.15)

Hi all,

We regret to tell you it will not be possible to make AccountEdge Catalina-compliant. Despite exploring a range of options to meet the requirements of the Catalina upgrade, we have been advised it will not be possible to deliver a solution which will allow AccountEdge to operate as it does today.

We know this will be disappointing. However, MYOB has a range of alternative accounting software products available for you to explore and we’re looking forward to sharing some new innovations with you in the coming weeks that will be of particular interest to Mac users.

If you have not upgraded to Catalina, no immediate change is required. We will actively support AccountEdge for the foreseeable future, providing all the same updates, including fresh tax tables, to enable those on previous operating systems to proceed as normal.

Kind regards,
Steven
