Turn on Timesheets

When trying to set up timesheets to use this feature, I am receiving this message, which prevents me from saving our setup to use timesheets:

An email variable is invalid in the default email message. Ensure that variables are surrounded by double brackets e.g. {{example_variable}}

This makes no sense to me, so I have no idea how to get around it or fix it.

Anyone else encounter this problem?
