The upgrade is terrible, not happy with it at all.
We use Xero for our other business and always like MYOB because it was simple to use but seriously considering moving this buiness to Xero aswell.

In response to:
* When you record a payment, the dault is to "Cash on Hand" not your bank account.
I tried this, there is no option to stop it defaulting to cash on demand.
As for passing on feedback to the developers, I recommend you tell them the overwhelming consensus is that Essentials is no longer a helpful small business tool, one that used to help us do business. Now it just burdens us. I am waiting for the Christmas shutdown so I have time to migrate to Xero.
I am so upset about none of my emails, calls, and messages being responded to and addressed, compounded by the awful update, that I don't want to bother using MYOB any longer. You can tell the project leaders that they need to rethink launching updates prematurely in future.

Not sure if this will help or maybe you have already tried this, but this did work for me.
* Go to Banking
* Receive Money
* Drop down box shows "Cash on Hand"
* Select you Bank Account from the drop down box
* Hit Record
and yes there is so many little things in this upgrade that just make everything so difficult to use.

I have sent my last email that I can be bothered with to them, I think its disgusting being charged $50 for a program I've been telling them doesn't work, if they can't address the issues I've told them multiple times to sort or revert me back (this i'd much prefer) I'm just going to swap everything to Xero at Xmas time.
There is no point having a slow, painful to use system that I can't even look my items up properly for a tradesman, we need to invoice this stuff out on the spot and it was so quick and easy before, now its just a time waster.
I know mulitple others with the same issue and made similar complaints and no one is getting a response, I've just put the ball in their court now, fix it by Xmas or revert me back or I'm out.

hope they listen but I doubt it....i couldn't be bothered moving accounting part way through...did that before when we moved to Essentials. is Xero really any better tho?

Hi there everyone,
It seems they do listen,
I missed a call from New Zealand, turns out it was customer complaints, she was pretty helpful, said there were multiple compalints but reckons there are hundreds of thousands of people that aren't complaining.
Apparently the issues that I have raised have already been nrought to their attention and they are supposedly working to fix it, she gave me a few things to do and then advise them if it fixes my speed problem which I havent done yet but will and report back.
They also offered to drop my subscription price right back for a few months and then halve it ongoing from there which makes me more inclined to persevere and stay on board until they sort it out.
At least they are actually trying to sort it now, but I feel like it took me getting pissy and saying I'm going to go for that to happen.

Too annoyed with MYOB to be able to make much sense...right now it doesn't marry up my General Ledger for BAS to the figure I have paid out each month. Trying to fix this means I have two sets of GLs for the same figure and I can't reconcile.
Why does it put Telephone down as every transaction account? And why is it so difficult to fix it for GL entries.
Can I just go back to the former MYOB whatever it is I had? It works for a business which is basically closing and I don't want to learn anything new for.

Agreeing with everything here - small business with only three employees and MYOB Essentials has become so complex and painful to work with now.
OPEN UP THE DROP DOWN BOX PLEASE !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why would you only show/suggest one account line when I pre-type the name to try and select the correct one?!
The whole upgrade is a mess................ looking for suggestions to a better accounting platform if anyone is able to recommend.

Yeah they know about the drop down problems but still haven't fixed it
