I am trying to change the email address of an existing contact in MYOB essentials and no matter what I do it will not let me change it i get this everytime "One or more fields exceed the maximum character limit" I have changed and retyped every part of the contact over and over even deleting some parts but it still wont let me change it. Obviously it has something to do with the upgrade we just had to have but I need to change it and it refuses to let me. Any ideas

Hi @User_07092023,
Can you please clear your browser cache and try again, if this doesn't work can you try via a different browser.
If neither of the troubleshooting steps assist can you retrieve the Chrome Console errors so I can investigate further:
To open the console can be opened using one of these methods
Once you've opened the console:

Thanks for replying I have done what you have asked however the problem still exists. I do not use another browser other than chrome and I do not intend to either. I can not change or update contact details since MYOB essentials was updated. Is there anything else I can try as it is a time sensitive issue.

Thanks for your help but I needed this fixed sooner rather than wait until you responded again.
I got around the problem by deleting the contact from MYOB and adding it as a new contact with the updated information. Not ideal and a total waste of my time having to do so, but that is just one of the many issues MYOB users are facing since the Essentials upgrade we just had to have.....

Not sure if it will help for next time. I came across this too and I don't know if it was the refresh or the swearing but once I changed the name and changed the 'contact' name (same number of characters then), I was able to save the edited contact. Total waste of time too but hopefully this helps someone.

I ended up deleting the contact and adding it as a new one and it worked fine. Then I seriously started investigating other accounting programs other than MYOB. Think we might have settled on ZERO! MYOB have totally ruined the Essentials program with the udate we just had to have.....

Im having this issue as well.
Im so annoyed I went to MYOB rather than Xero now. Just too many things don't work at the moment. IUts a super inferior product. They have kind of ruined it over the years.

Hi @Natey_T,
Thanks for reaching out.
I understand that after editing all fields under contact information this error comes up even after making sure that the number of characters is correct.
While changing the contact inside your file, there is an option there to choose either Company or Individual. What we could do is shift the contact to company/individual, delete the contact details, and revert it back to either Company or Individual, after which we could try to reinput the information for the contact and try to save it.
If the issue still persists after trying this out, feel free to let me know. I'm willing to help.
Cheers,
Genreve

What a waste of time, the contact details are already entered all I am trying to do is adjust an email address or phone number. I think you should fix the glitch in your program don’t you?
