Casual contact public holidays

I employee several employees on a casual contract, they get their 8% each pay.  Do I pay them for Public Holidays ?

Hi @Helen9 

 

I would recommend speaking to Employment NZ or a similar organisation for guidance on that one. Generally speaking, you should be paying an employee time and half, as well as them accruing a day in lieu (alternatively holiday) if the public holiday is a day the employee would normally work.
