We have 9 company files with a separate account, but my boss would like to combine into one file just put categories to segregate the amount between the company, we are using ABSS 22, does it possible to combine all company into one file? how about the opening balance?

If you are running ABSS 22 then this suggests you are based in Asia?
Suggest you contact ABSS directly to investigate this further - https://int.abssasia.com/support
As a general rule if each of the 9 businesses are a separate company/legal entity then it is best to run each business in a separate MYOB file. Using 1 MYOB file and separating the businesses using Category would be a solution if the 9 businesses were just branches or divisions of one company/legal entity.
If your boss is wanting to see the whole business consolidated on one page then suggest you use one of the Addon solutions to Consolidate multiple MYOB files together.
Many ABSS clients use our Business Intelligence solution BI4Cloud to streamline reporitng and to consolidate multiple MYOB files for reporting purposes. This includes consolidating Sales, purchase AR AP etc not just a high level P&L. All with full drill down to transacitons.
