Employee Training Discounts

My boss is running a paid training program to clients and has reserved a few places for any staff that wanted to take the course at no cost based on a first in best dressed situation.

Should this be accounted for as income and discounts given and if so how? Do I create customer cards and generate invoices for each staff member taking the course cost, but apply a full discount?

Or is it something to do just in a GJ - and if so, what accounts should I use?

Re: Employee Training Discounts

Hi @SHR81

As we're not accountants we're not permitted to advise on the accounts and tax codes you would need to use when recording employee discounts. And it also depends on the accountant, some prefer a general journal entry. As such, you will need to speak to your accountant for the type of transaction, accounts and tax codes.

Once you know what you need to record, I can help you with how to record it in your software.

Kind regards,
Yanike
