Essentials General Journal GST Issues for Reporting

From memory old versions of MYOB Essentials allowed for the ability to set whether the journal entry was for a sale or purchase in terms of GST reporting.

'

How when I enter journals in Essentials now the gst reports are not correct

I can not find this old feature anywhere

Thanks in advance

Re: Essentials General Journal GST Issues for Reporting

Hi @jen3

The older MYOB Essentials platform doesn't have the ability to how you wish to display that transaction for GST purposes. It will a combination of the account type and whether it's a debit or credit to determine that information.

The newer MYOB Essentials platform does have that functionality, similar to the AccountRight/AccountEdge software, where you can select how you want that transaction to be showcased for GST reporting.

Kind regards,
Steven

Re: Essentials General Journal GST Issues for Reporting

Hi @jen3

The easiest way to tell would be by looking at the Dashboard. If it looks like the following you would be on the newer MYOB Essentials platform:

If it looks like the following then you are using the original MYOB Essentials platform:

Users of the original MYOB Essentials will be migrated in due course across to the newer MYOB Essentials platform.

Kind regards,
Steven
