I have input a customers email address to send an invoice to. But Essentials is saying "Invalid email format.'
Can I send a screenshot of what I've entered in a PM?

It generally happens if the reply to email address field is empty. That said, you're welcome to send the screenshots by a Private Message so we can investigate further.
