I will definitley be cancelling my subscription EOFY and moving to Xero. I work with both programs, and NEVER get logged out of Xero unless I leave it open for too long, certainly not while I'm in the middle of doing something important. No point in paying MYOB when they will not fix an important issue like this. Very dissapointing!

Hello,

I am auto logged out of Myob essentials consistently when I'm trying to enter a list of entries, really tedious and hard to stay focussed. I'm in Google Chrome as my browser what do you suggest in terms of preference settings in Chrome. This has been occurring since when I started using the Essentials in November 2020. All system & browser software is up-to date.

Below is what MYOB advise for the workaround. I hope it helps!

 

In order to resolve it, the flags related to these cookies have to be manually disabled by following the given steps:
1.    Open Google Chrome
2.    Type chrome://flags/ in your address bar
3.    Find following flags and disable those:

  • SameSite by default cookies
  • Cookies without SameSite must be secure

Once it's done, relaunch Google Chrome and login to Essentials again.

Ahhh....totally annoyed now....been logged in for approx an hour and have been logged off twice already!! Both while in the middle of creating invoices. I've said it once and I'll say it again....EOFY - bye bye MYOB, hello Xero.

We do understand that there is a number of clients that have been affected by a long-outstanding cookie issue that is impacting MYOB Essentials which causes those users to log out of the MYOB Essentials business unexpectedly. Due to the nature of the situation, it is still with our products teams, and we are unable to provide additional information and a resolution timeframe at this time.

 

In the meantime, we do recommend looking at updating those flags that have been mentioned in this thread/ on MYOB Essentials Automatic log out after period of time. Some clients have also reported that while it still occurs it can be less frequent in Mozilla Firefox. So, if you are impacted, that is a good browser to try if you haven't already. 

 

We'll communicate any further information relating to updates on this situation, when we do have them, on MYOB Essentials Automatic log out after period of time

Sorry I stand corrected. Over 3 years. Seen older posts with the same issue from JUNE 2017! What! I am reconsidering MYOB right now...

Trying to quantify why we pay $720 + GST per year for software which is buggy and is not being kept up to date.  

 

I've recently read that MYOB supplies business & accounting software to 1.2 million businesses in NZ.

 

Would you guys consider spending 0.01% of your profit to fix this bug?  I'm sure you would find a developer very happy to do this for you as your team are obviously incompetant to keep up with the new security requirements of Chrome and Edge.

It is incomprehensible that your solution is to disable a setting in the web browser which compromises the security that all the major browsers have implemented.

 

It compromises their recommended secuity practices for ALL websites that are visited. This isn't a setting limited only to visiting your outdated software, this setting applies to ALL websites visited from now on using that browser.

 

Your warning: "We recommend consulting with an IT specialist to understand the implications of updating these flags."

 

It seems like you're trying to cover your backside here.  How about you spend a fraction of your profit this year employing a third-party security expert, or better yet FIX YOUR SOFTWARE.

 

I'm had it with this - have an appointment with my accountant tomorrow and will be talking about moving to Xero.
