Take home pay paid in 2 amounts

Hi @Tracey_H , I have a client where a pay run was completed (net $2058), then an error was made in the payment to the employee ($2028), transferring $30 short. So the next day when error discovered, the short payment of $30 was sent to employees account.

Now the payroll transaction does not match with the bank transactions. No matter what I do, the $2058 does not come up in the "match transaction" list.

Whats the easiest way to rectify this?

Thanks

Darren

Hi Darren

Hope all is well with you. At this stage it's not possible to match multiple bank transactions with one payroll transaction in Essentials. There's two possible workarounds which will allow you to match your bank feeds:

Scenario 1: two bank transactions for one pay:

- Delete the payroll transaction recorded.

- Temporary set up split pay in the employee contact, per this Online Help article: Split a pay between multiple bank accounts

- Record the pay again as normal.

- You'll now have two payroll amounts ready to be matched to bank transactions.

- Remove the split settings in employee contact

Scenario 2: more than two bank transactions for one pay:

- Create a new account as a clearing account, I would set it as a new bank account.

- Go to Payroll > Payroll settings > temporarily set the new clearing account as the Pay From account.

- Delete the original pay, then re-record it.

- Allocate those bank transactions to the clearing account as well, which returns its account balance to $0.

- Change the Pay From account to the main bank account again.

Let me know if you need more help with this or if your client is using the upgraded version of Essentials.

Cheers,
Tracey
