error message when allocating bank transactions

Hello,

I keep getting the following error message when trying to allocate bank transactions.

[Not able to perform the operation due to a system error. Please try again.]

I have tried on IE and Google Chrome but I couldn't on both.

Could someone please help me to solve this issue?

Morio

Re: error message when allocating bank transactions

Hello @MorioPerth

This error is usually caused by MYOB Essentials reverting to an older ID number. To solve this, rather than directly allocate the transaction, record one transaction manually, and match it to the bank feed. This will cause the system to correctly allocate the next transaction number for that transaction type.

For instance, for deposits, record a receive money transaction, unless their is an invoice on record for the payment, in which case record a take payments transaction. For withdrawals, record a spend money transaction, unless there is a bill on record for the payment, in which case you can record a pay bills transaction.

If you receive the same error while attempting to manually record the transaction, then go to your transaction history and find the highest ID number on record for that type of transaction. Then manually type the next highest number when recording the transaction.

Doing this once will make it so that you can allocate as normal after this.

Kind Regards

Re: error message when allocating bank transactions

Iv'e tried to manually push the system as explained above and I am still getting the same error message. As I only joined MYOB a few months ago I'm not sure why it would "revert" to an older version.

I find this extremelly frustrating and would love to hear how to fix this, when trying to force the system to manually fix itself does not work?

Re: error message when allocating bank transactions

Hey @MSCranehire,

Thanks for your query.

What browser were you currently using there? Have you tried alternate browsers? Does this also happen on other computers?

Please let us know how you go as we are happy to investigate further.

Kind Regards

Re: error message when allocating bank transactions

Hi Sebastian

I have tried it on multiple internet browsers (Chrome and Internet Explorer) and I've tried it on multiple devices (Laptop, Surface, Desktop Computer and Phone). Usually it resolves itself when I manually enter in a dummy entry, but this doesn't seem to be working anymore.

Thanks,

Emma Whyte

Re: error message when allocating bank transactions

Hey Emma (@MSCranehire),

Thanks for your reply.

Seems strange that this is still occurring then. Just to be sure when you are creating manual entries, are you using used or unused cheque numbers? It would need to be unused cheque numbers for the system to correct itself.

Please let us know how you go.

Kind Regards
