sole trader not registered for gst

I am currently trying to set up MYOB.  As a sole trader not registered for GST it WILL NOT allow me to create customer income items using the GNR code.  ie Item is Maintenance charge I cant use other codes as they are not correct and the custmer will request a correction.  Is MYOB suitable for GST not registered sole traders?

Re: sole trader not registered for gst

Hi @Opal1978

Thank you for your post.

In MYOB Essentials you can set your GST settings to No under Are you registered for GST? To do this click on your business name (top right-hand corner) and choose GST settings.

Essentials business GST settings

Then click the No option for Are you registered for GST?

Essentials GST settings not registered for GST

Then click Save. For more information on these instructions please visit Help Article: Setting up a non-GST business. Since you won't be charging your customers GST, the software will prevent you from choosing a tax code when creating a quote or invoices once you have followed the steps above. You also won't need to lodge Business Activity Statements at end of period (but we do recommend that you confirm this with your accountant or the ATO).

Please let me and the MYOB Community know if you have any further questions

Kind regards,
Jesh
