Setup: Read-only cancelled MYOB Essentials business model for cancelled subscriptions

I still think it would be worthwhile for MYOB to consider developing, for a better term, a “Non Trading Licence” for those business which have closed, however, that need for statutory purposes, to retain information and therefore, with the ability to access the information in the file.

As discussed the licence could be established along the following lines

• Only applies to businesses that have ceased trading.
• Only applies to on line version of MYOB products.
• The licence is payable upfront, that is within 60 days of advising MYOB it wishes to cease its normal product subscription.
• The Non Trading Licence covers the period that the entity is required by law to maintain records, plus one additional year.
• If the subscription is requested after the 60 day period there is an additional fee of say 25%.
• During the Subscription period the file is effectively a read only file, with only the ability to print reports or documents, but no access to make any entries or changes to the files.
• At the end of the subscription period the client can no longer access the file.

So the “Non Trading Licence” would effectively become a statutory storage fee charged by MYOB.

The advantage or selling point to the client is they don’t need to maintain either paper copies of documents, nor retain electronic copies of documents and have some secure way of doing so.

I would think there would many clients that would be interest in such a service.
