It would be good to have the ability to generate a Balance Sheet and P&L that shows prior period comparative data within Live Accounts.

If possible, the option to show additional columns such as $ movement or % movement would be helpful also.

Most accountants would find this helpful in analyzing the performance of a business.

"Balance sheet and Profit and Loss Comparatives"

Current Status: Done
Last Changed: April 2021

Hi Everyone

MYOB Essentials will allow the Balance Sheet (and Profit & Loss) reports to have the option to compare to Last year.

Note: This is an option is available for the new MYOB Essentials platform, existing (original) MYOB Essentials platform users would be migrated across to the new platform in due course. Although, users can compare to last year using the Profit & Loss report in the original platform.

This Software is horrible!!

If you compare this software with Xero, it simply ridiculously hard to use.

Standard comparatives feature is something that is so essential that can potentially save hundred of dollars for client in Accounting Fees and It's still under consideration?

We will stop recommending MYOB software if this is not implemented in soon future.

Note: MYOB AO Tax is also full of bugs! I think MYOB team need work extra hard! We can potentially lose client just because the software does not work properly (ex cap gain etc).

Please and please and please help us to believe in MYOB again.

Hi @Accountant-2015

Thank you for your feedback and voting for this idea. I have shared your thoughts with the team.

The normal process for an Idea posted on Ideas Exchange would go through a few stages. We would mark the post as "Under Consideration" and encourage users to vote and comment for this idea. If the idea does generate a number of votes and comments we mark it has high demand meaning we will investigate and attempt to implement that idea ahead of other ideas with lesser demand.

As of 23/02/2015 the Idea Exchange have had 46 ideas implemented from it and some of the ideas have been marked as Planned.

I'm sorry to hear that you have been having trouble with the software such as AO Tax. If you would like to post elsewhere on the MYOB Community Forum we would be more than happy to look further into those errors for you.

Hi Steve_M,

It seems people have been voting for reports to be available in Excel format for two years now, with very little progress, is there some semblance of a timeframe for this? PDF formats allow next to no ability to effectively analyse data.

Hi @Grant05

Thank you for your feedback.

At this stage we don't have a timeframe for when this will be included in MYOB Essentials.

However in saying that certain reports like the Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet reports can be exported out using the XLS option from MYOB Essentials. The XLS option is in the top right of the report window in Essentials.

This would allow you to manually combine those reports to allow you to provide a comparison between periods.

Hi @Grant05

As indicated on Balance Sheet and Profit and Loss Compartives you are able to export certian reports out of Essentials using the XLS button.

@Steven_M Thanks for the tip on XLS exporting, however this does not solve the problem. Many clients add and remove accounts between years, making it cumbersome to manually adjust the XLS data to match year on year.

A comparison year on year function is the obvious feature that is required here, and it looks like im not the only one that wont be suggesting to clients to use essentials moving forward if this "enhancement" is not made (I really don't see it as an enhancement, it is a BASIC function. I have some clients who are still using software from the early 2000's and they have this feature - they wont move to your product because this one simple feature is missing).

Please pass the request up the chain, thanks.

Hi @Josh_Q

Thank you for your comments and feedback in regards to this idea.

The idea is still marked as Under Consideration. At this stage we are still encouraging clients to vote and comment if required if they would like to see this idea included in the program. The option to export out the data using the XLS option is a workaround that can be used at this time.

Once again thank you for your feedback i have shared it with the team.

Thank you all for your interest in this idea.

Last year comparatives is already available for Profit & Loss in Essentials Accounting, our developers are also planning to bring this option for Balance Sheet as well. We will bring you updates when we have more details available.

Thanks for adding P&L comparatives; Comparatives (for the same period of the previous year) for the Balance Sheet are absolutely "essential", please advise whether this idea is any closer to implementation?

What would be even nicer is to have a comparison to any other period, eg last month, last year-end, etc.
