Online Company File

We've downloaded the upgrade to AccountRight 2019.2.

When trying to open our company file, it tells us to upgrade the file.

When attempting to do this, it requests us to browse for the location of the file.

However, this company is saved ONLINE and not on our hard drive.

How can we upgrade an online company file?

Re: Online Company File

Hi @TP3

To upgrade an online company file to a new version of AccountRight you would just need to open the company file with the new version. This will prompt the file to upgrade to the latest version of the program. Do note that you do need to be the AccountRight Live Administrator or Owner to upgrade that file, an AccountRight Live File User would not have that access.

The full upgrade process would be:

  1. Download and install the new version of the program
  2. Select Open a Company File>>Online
  3. Enter your AccountRight Live Login detials/my.MYOB account details before selecting the file to open
  4. Select to Upgrade the file from the on-screen prompt
  5. Wait a few minutes while the file upgrades before selecting to open that file again.

Note: The Upgrade a Company File option on the Welcome Window is to upgrade AccountRight Classic (v19) or below to AccountRight 20xx.

Do let us know how you get on and if you require further assistance.

Kind regards,
Steven

Re: Online Company File

Hi Steven.

What if it doesn't give us the "Open a Company File>>Online" option?

Re: Online Company File

Hi @TP3

Based on the screenshot, you have selected the Upgrade a Company file option from the Welcome window. As the company file is already an AccountRight 20xx company file you DON'T need to use that process.

You would need to open the company file as per normal i.e. go Open a Company File>>Online or select the company file from the Recently Open Company File list. This will prompt you to upgrade the file to the newer AccountRight (AccountRight 2019.2).

Kind regards,
Steven

Re: Online Company File

Hi @TP3

Great to hear that you have been able to navigate to that file and attempted that upgrade.

The reason why you are not able to upgrade that company file is due to the fact that you are not the AccountRight Live Owner or AccountRight Live Administrator of the company file. As such, you would need to get that AccountRight Live Owner/Administrator to upgrade that file to AccountRight 2019.2. Once they have upgraded that company file, you would be able to open that file in AccountRight 2019.3 (as per normal).

Note: I am referring to the AccountRight Live access, your company file user access doesn't factor into the equation with this situation.

Kind regards,
Steven

Re: Online Company File

Steve, are you able to advise who the administrator is?  We were under the impression that it's Niamh Barnden.

So close now, I can almost taste success;-)

Re: Online Company File

Hi @TP3

Niamh is an AccountRight Live Administrator of the company file. However, the contact record for him that is the AccountRight Live Administrator is the accounts based email address.

As such, I would recommend getting that user to utilise their accounts email address, which would log in as the AccountRight Live Administrator and allow for the file to be upgraded.

Kind regards,
Steven
