GST Return submission

Submitting GST return directly to IRD resulted in a message "Your GST return has been rejected by Inland Revenue" on contacting IRD they confirmed that it had in fact been received correctly.

Hi @MikeP38,

 

Thanks for letting us know. If you check the status of the return, does it appear correct? Generally, if there was an issue submitting it to the IRD, you would see a status of 'Rejected'.  A 'Filed' status suggests that the return has been filed and 'Completed' means it has successfully been received by the IRD. We would encourage you to always check the status of it to see whether it's been successfully sent and received.

Thank you for your response.

 

I always check the status of submitted GST returns. In this instance besides the message received status was "rejected" and that's the reason for this post. I then manually submitted the GST which I had no problem with. It was then I rang IRD to see why the electronic submission was rejected to be informed that they had received two submissions one electronically and one manual.

Thanks for letting us know. We haven't received any other reports of GST return statuses being incorrect - this therefore seems like it may have been a glitch specific to your system. We would recommend you keep an eye on it and let us know in the event it happens again so we can investigate further.
