I know that this isn't compulsory until April 2019, but if we want to start before then how do we do it?
The change that is coming up has nothing to do with payroll but with reporting of provisional tax - a new accounting income method (AIM) for small businesses. For more information click on the link here IRD website
I have attached a Help article on Using the AIM provisional tax option into the GST reporting window.
Let me know if there is any further help you need. We are happy to help.
No, there is also a change to PAYE filing coming up.
Instead of doing it monthly it will have to be done each pay day, which will be compulsory from April 2019.
It is completely different to AIM.
April - last edited April
I am sorry I missed that bit and thanks for the feedback.
At the moment, we support half monthly and monthly PAYE reporting. Also currently you need to file manually with IRD until it gets mandatory April 2019, and there will be an option in our software definitely to deal with this change.
You can choose to start payday filing from 1 April 2018 but according to IRD, they have requested the clients to call them if anyone wants to file before April 1, 2019. This is from the IRD website:
Please check here for more information.
Hope this helps! Please let us know if you have further queries.
Hi @RienaP - can you clarify the question - will MYOB Payroll support Payday filing before 1/4/19 - or must it be done manually?

Pay Day PAYE will be supported when it becomes mandatory April 1, 2019. These are the products we support such as MYOB Desktop Payroll, Essentials, and ACE payroll.
Should there any further queries, please do not hesitate to bring it to the forum.
According to IRD if anyone wants to do it prior to 1 April 2019 then file manually till then.
Should there be any progress on this, MYOB will keep everyone

We are a small business and we manage a few hundred independant contractors. Can you please explain which is the best software for us to be using? We are currently using AccountEdge Pro.
We note payday filing is already in affect in Australia - what has MYOB done to support that change?

Which software you would have would depend on whether you would like a desktop product or online. Do you guys use progress time billing and or is there need to use jobs? Do your contractors need to be paid GST? Which payroll software currently you are using?
As there is a couple of payroll software, we need to assess your need and then recommend a product cost-effective and suitable for your business.
As per my post above, Pay Day filing will be supported in NZ Payroll well before it will become mandatory on 1st April 2019. We will definitely let our clients know as soon as it is available.
Looking forward to hearing from you so we can help you further.

In the MYOB suite of payrolls, I would be looking at IMS Payroll. Essentials Payroll is too small for the number of employees/contractors you have, so is MYOB Payroll, and so is Ace Payroll in my mind. I'm assuming you are deducting 20% withholding only - so your payroll is quite simple - however are they GST registered as well?
