Sick leave deductions for hourly rate rather than daily

One of our employees works on an hourly basis, all others work on daily basis for salary. The sick leave entitlement for the hourly based employee does not deduct the hours allocated to "sick leave" in the monthly pay, but does show them on the payslip. Is there some other area I should be noting the hours taken as sick leave for this employee? I have just manually adjusted their entitlement on the "other leave" tab till now, but would prefer not to have to remember to do this.

Thanks

Kathryn

Re: Sick leave deductions for hourly rate rather than daily

Hi @EnergyTS

When you enter hours into the sick leave qty on the enter pays screen - you should be seeing another screen pop up where you define how many days these hours equate to - the last column of this second screen. If you were paying 4 hours of sick leave - then you would enter onto this second screen .5 days of sick leave. (assuming employee works an 8 hour day) It is a legal requirement for sick leave to be reported in days -not hours.

Thanks, I will see what happens next time. I just checked and a pop-up box is appearing, but I am not sure if this happened previously, so cant tell if this is why the days weren't being deducted.

Re: Sick leave deductions for hourly rate rather than daily

Hi,

I have tried to add a sick day to this employee again this month, but the screen you say "pops up" doesnt. I feel I may have set them up incorrectly , on an hourly basis rather than a daily one, so am wondering what to do to correct this?As this is , as you say, a legal requirement, can you please help? The employee works 4 days a week, 5 hours a day, and started in Feb 2014.

Thanks

Kathryn

Re: Sick leave deductions for hourly rate rather than daily

Hi Kathryn @EnergyTS,

I'd like to extend to you a warm welcome to the Community Forum. I hope you find it a valuable resource.

I have followed your posts and would like you to check if this screen has been set up properly so the employee gets their sick leave entitlement. Please see below:

sick leave.png

I have given 5 hours (1 day) sick leave and the employee has worked 15 hours for in this scenario and this is how I would enter her pay. Please see below:

Also check if the employee has been setup as paid hourly under Employment Details.

Please do let us know how you go as we are happy to assist further and feel free to post again should you have any other queries.

Re: Sick leave deductions for hourly rate rather than daily

Thanks Reina,

I think the problem is that the pay defaults is where I was making the changes, not the "enter pays". When I use the "enter pay details" the appropriate "sick leave " box appears.

Re: Sick leave deductions for hourly rate rather than daily

Hi Kathryn @EnergyTS,

I am glad that you have identified what was causing the problem.

The Pay Default is Standard pay that an employee would normally get and that included all deductions and payments are included. As you will not be giving an employee sick leave you will not enter any quantity until you enter the timesheet while entering weekly/fortnightly timesheet as it happens. Whatever you write in Pay Defaults is a template that get copied every pay whereas weekly/fortnightly timesheet is entered when processing your pay.

Please don't hesitate to post again should you have any other queries.
