Hi
Our client uses MYOB Essential Payroll. From 1 April2019 they have changed from being a partnership to a limited liability company. I was advised that I would ahve to setup a new payroll file for them and that the employee data could not be transferred from the original file. I have added the employee data and leave balances to the new file manually. However, there is no dollar rate for the leave.
How can this be brought across?
Cheers

Hi @Jacqui_M
I tried a test in my demo file and you can change the start date for employees and change the IRD number. Just not sure what would get reported to the IRD in terms of gross earnings - but being the start of 1/4/19 - good timing?

Hi Jennie
That was my first thought, but our Partner Manager advised us to start with a clean file.
Also, if they wanted any historical reports, e.g. for an audit, then the IRD numebr and business name would be incorrect.
Thanks
Jacqui

Hi @Jacqui_M
In terms of that leave rate, this is calculated for a "new" employee based on the Gross Earnings for the past 12 months. As a result, you would need to enter the past months of earnings via Pay history>>Enter Pay History prior to using MYOB Essentials. The options are pretty straight forward for that - but if you do need some information Help Article: Pay history would be the one to check out.
Once that past 12 months of pay information has been added you will have a value for the leave liability for the employee.
Kind regards,
Steven

Thanks Steven
This is going to take time and they nedd to do their payroll today. Do you see any reason why they don't just change the business names and IRD number in the Payroll Settings?

Hi @Jacqui_M
I personally don't see why you couldn't update that information in the current MYOB Essentials*. However, my advice would be to check with the IRD as payday filing is now in effect you might run into some complications at their end.
*If the employer uses PayAgent then it probably would be best to create a new MYOB Essentials, but our dedicated Payroll phone-based team would be best to clarify with that one.
Kind regards,
Steven

Thanks Steven. I have decided to go ahead and change the business details. They don't use PayAgent and have not started Payday Filing yet. They have filed for March in the old way, so we can now update the file and activate payday filing for the new entity.
Cheers
Jacqui
