GOVERNMENT PAID PARENTAL LEAVE

DOES A FULL TIME PERMANENT EMPLOYEE ACCRUE HOLIDAYS AND SICK LEAVE WHILE ON PAID PARENTAL LEAVE? AND DO THEY GET SUPERANNUATION GUARANTEE PAID? I have paid this leave before, but to casual employees who had no access to accruals anyway. I have researched and believe this leave does not accrue entitlements, but i would feel better if this is confirmed. many thanks.

Thank you for your question. 

An employee doesn't usually accumulate any type of paid leave while they're on unpaid parental leave unless they’re on a keeping in touch day.

This includes paid leave such as annual leave or sick leave. Long service leave entitlements may accrue while on unpaid parental leave depending on the rules set by your state or territory.

 I would suggest speaking to your accountant/financial advisor for the best information around this for your case.

Thank you Chris. Yes I believe LSL would continue as employee isn't breaking from employment. However I could not see how holidays and sick could be accrued. I have referred to our accountant as suggested.
