What does this check box mean when setting up a pay item?

"Automatically adjust base hourly or base salary details"

Re: Pay Item

Hi

What it means is , if an employee is away for annual leave or sick leave when you record that in their pay it will automatically reduce the base hours by this amount

eg

normal hours 37.5hrs week and employee has two days off for annual leave ( 7.5 x2 =14)

you start your payrun and in the employee you enter 14hrs for annual leave

the base hourly will automatically reduce to 23.5 hrs

Just be careful when using this though that you don't also select for loading as it will reduce the hours further

Hope that explains it

Lisa

Re: Pay Item

If understand correctly, if the employee is on a standard salary then ticking this option would work as it would reduce the 37.5 base hrs to 22.5.  However, if the employee payroll is set up as an hourly rate, where the hours may vary from week to week, then ticking this option would be incorrect as pay staff would be manually entering the 22.5 hours as the base hours and the 15 hours annual leave.  In this situation, if the box was ticked, would it reduce the base hours of 22.5 again and show 30 hours as annual leave?
