Installing and Registering JustInvoices on a new machine

Hi all,

We often come across queries from clients who have trouble installing JustInvoices software on a new machine. This article details the steps to be taken to overcome these issues:

Before completing the tasks below, please make sure you're logged in as an administrator on the computer, or a user with administrator privileges.

If you're not sure about this, or any of the steps listed below, you may need the assistance of an IT person.

IMPORTANT: To install and use JustInvoices, you'll need your Serial Number and Registration Number. These were provided to you when you first purchased or registered JustInvoices. If you need this information provided again, please post a message on this forum and one of our MYOB Moderators will be happy to help you.

Here are the steps to follows:

Step 1. Uninstall JustInvoices (If JustInvoices has previously been installed on the machine.)

Programs are uninstalled via your computer's Control Panel as follows:

    1. Close all programs on your computer - this includes temporarily disabling your anti-virus software.
    2. Access the list of installed programs on your computer:
Win 8: Right-click in the screen's bottom-left corner and choose Programs and Features.
Win 7, Vista or XP: Click the Windows Start button and choose Control Panel then choose Programs and Features (or Add/Remove Programs).
    3. Click MYOB JustInvoices, then click Uninstall (or Change/Remove). If a confirmation message is displayed, click Yes.
    4. After the software has uninstalled, restart your computer.

Step 2. Run the JustInvoices "registry cleaner"

Even though you've uninstalled JustInvoices, there may be some bits and pieces left in your computer's registry which can affect any attempts to reinstall the software. So to be thorough, it's recommended to run a "registry cleaner" to remove these bits and pieces so JustInvoices can be successfully reinstalled.

  1. Right-click the following link and choose Save target as (or Save Link As) and save the file to your Desktop:JustInvoices Registry Cleaner.
  2. Double-click the downloaded file to run the registry cleaner.
  3. Click Yes to the following prompt:

Reg Cleaner 1.PNG

The registry cleaner will run.

4. When complete, click OK to the following prompt:

Reg Cleaner 2.PNG

5. Restart your computer.

You can now delete the registry cleaner file you saved on your Desktop - you won't need this any more.

Step 3. Temporarily turn off User Access Control (Windows 8, 7 and Vista only)

User Access Control (UAC) is a security feature in Windows Vista and later to prevent unauthorised changes to your computer and its programs. However, this feature can sometimes interrupt the installation of JustInvoices. So, it's best to temporarily turn off UAC and then turn it back on after JustInvoices has been installed.

Step 4. Install JustInvoices

  1.  If you haven't already done so, temporarily disable your anti-virus software.
  2. Right-click the following link and choose Save target as(or Save Link As) and save the file to your Desktop: MYOBJustInvoices Installer The installation file will be downloaded.
  3. Start the installation:
Windows 8, 7 and Vista: Right-click the downloaded file and choose Run as Administrator.
Windows XP: Double-click the downloaded file.
  4. Follow the prompts to install JustInvoices. You will be prompted to enter your Serial Number as part of the installation.

After installation

  • Enable your anti-virus software.
  • [Windows 8, 7 and Vista] Turn UAC back on as described in Step 3.
  • If you're using Windows 8, 7 or Vista, complete Step 5 below before using JustInvoices.

Step 5. Run JustInvoices in "compatibility mode" (Win 8, 7 and Vista Only)

To ensure JustInvoices runs smoothly on Windows Vista and later, it's recommended to run the software in "compatibility mode for Windows XP". This means that even though you're using Windows 8, 7 or Vista, JustInvoices will think it's running on Windows XP.

This is an optional task, but there's no downside to it. It's simply a minor change which has proven to eliminate issues which may otherwise occur.

Here's how to ensure JustInvoices runs in "compatibility mode" each time you use it:

  1. Right-click the JustInvoices shortcut on your Desktop and choose Properties.
  2. Click the Compatibility tab.
  3. Select the option Run this program in compatibility mode for and choose Windows XP (Service Pack 3) from the drop down list.
  4. Click OK.

When you first launch JustInvoices you'll be prompted to register the software. Click Yes and enter your Registration Number.

Hope this helps. Do let us know if you need any further assistance with this.

Cheers,
