Online MYOB Back Up

Our company is currently merging some of our files to online only, are you able to back up a file online or can this only be done on the desktop app?

There are a number of terminology issues you will come across on the forum, such as online, online access, cloud storage etc. Some users misunderstand some of these terms or use them 'loosely' and can cause confusion. I am not sure I have correctly understood your question however will try to answer with some additional detail, just in case I have misunderstood.

With AccountRight you have a company file (.myox). This file can be stored on your computer/server or online.

If your file is stored on your computer/server you can access via the AccountRight desktop application. This application allows you to both create and restore backups.

If your file is stored on MYOB's servers (online, in the cloud etc), you can access that company file via the AccountRight desktop application or via a browser such as Chrome, Edge etc. When you access it via the desktop application, you can (and should regularly) make a backup. This backup is saved to your local computer/server - it cannot be saved 'online'. 

At present according to MYOB's Backup and Restore Help Articles, backup/restore/confirmation/upgrading etc can only be done when accessing the file via the desktop application, not when accessing via the browser.
