Paid maternity leave - NZ

Can anyone tell me how I set up maternity leave in MYOB for the 16 weeks here in NZ?  Also how does payment and PAYE work? What is the employer responsible for?

Hi there,

The Govt pays the maternity leave direct to your employee and handles the PAYE. You don't pay anything to your employee while they are being paid by the govt. If you pay out annual leave etc, this amount will affect what they get in maternity leave - ie reduce it.

When your employee returns to work, then you start paying them again.

Welcome to the MYOB Community Forum, I hope you find the solutions to your enquiries and many more helpful suggestions.

 

Following on from what Jennie has advised, in the software you would need to set this up following this support note: Setting up an Employee for Parental Leave  this will make sure the employee’s card file is set up and ready to go for when they return.
