Cost/value of built items

Regarding the value of built items - How does the system calculate the value of an item which has been built form components? Shouldn't it be the total of the costs of the compenents - plus labour component etc? The average cost of the built items doesn't sem to be showing correctly .

Re: Cost/value of built items

HI @jdeans3

Thanks for your question.

You are correct that the cost of an autobuilt item is the total of the average costs of the individual items. So, if your autobuild contained three items, it would be the average cost of item 1 added to the average cost of item 2 and the average cost of item 3. If you are adding labour into the cost of an item, then you may want to have a look at our help article, Include labour cost when using Auto-Build

Are you able to elaborate on what isn’t showing correctly with the average cost? Are you getting a figure you aren’t expecting? Or do the component costs not look right?

Regards,
Neil

Re: Cost/value of built items

Thank you very much,

Good to know that I'm understnading that correctly.

I have some instances where the cost of the autobuilt item is 0 but the quantity is 1. This indicates that the item hasn't been built correctly but the quantity adjusted.

Re: Cost/value of built items

HI @jdeans3

Your very welcome and you are correct that if you had items that were autobuilt but lacked a cost figure, it would mean that either an adjustment had been done to increase the quantity but not the cost of the item or that all the items used in the autobuild had an average cost of zero. The latter is far less likely, particularly if the autobuild has worked previously giving the autobuilt items an actual cost.

Please feel free to post any questions that you may have.

Neil
