ABN change in single touch payroll

Hi I have a client that due to company restructure needs to change their ABN.  We have lodged their single touch payroll to date as required.  (Only one employee) However I assume it will not be as easy as just changing the abn in the myob field that I will need to advise the ATO somehow that this ABN no longer will be lodging and the new ABN will be - and so double ups of pays are submitted?  I can't seem to find any instructions on this and am hoping someone might be able to advise please? Thanks

Re: ABN change in single touch payroll

Hi @loz69

The process of changing the ABN for Payroll reporting is included below: Do ensure that you do have a backup of the company file before completing the below process.

  1. Ensure that all pays have been processed for the old ABN
  2. Finalise the employees using the EOFY Finalisation option and send that final information to the ATO.
  3. Ensure that a backup of the file has been completed
  4. Change the ABN in the company file - Setup>>Company Information AND Payroll>>Payroll Reporting>>Company Information.
  5. Remove the YTD amounts from the employees (as they are already reported under the old ABN)
    1. Card File>>Cards List>>Select the employee>>Select Payroll Details
    2. Select Pay History (LEFT-hand side)
    3. Show Pay History for the Year-to-date
    4. Change all the values to be $0.00 before selecting OK
  6. Update the ABN details for STP - Updating Single Touch Payroll details
  7. Re-register with that new ABN and start reporting.

Kind regards,
Steven
